Monday, May 14th at approximately 8:30 pm... It was a clear, cool night in Sneads Ferry, North Carolina. Brent and I had just returned from taking the dogs for a walk when I made a decision that would forever change the rest of my Monday night, my week, and possibly my face.
I decided I would try rollerblading with the dogs- one at a time of course. Now I figured I had been on skates since I was 3, on rollerblades ever since they were cool and I got my first pair- it seemed like an OK idea. Unfortunately a rock in the road decided otherwise. At least Brent and I think it was a rock- neither of us are really sure how it happened. We are only sure of what happened- I hit the pavement, face first, and hard. Lexi just froze, she wasn't sure what to do. And luckily we weren't far from our house. I made it back to the house, with blood dripping out of my forehead- and managed to not get a single drop on my clothes. Pretty impressive if I do say so myself.
Brent immediately thought I needed stitches, but I figured it was probably no big deal- just a little blood. Then I made it inside and took a look in the mirror- yeah maybe needed to get it checked out after all. And with that we were on our way to the emergency room, but not without snapping a couple of pictures first.
3 hours and 7 stitches later- I had quite the headache. I even missed the next two days of work, I had gotten in a fight with the pavement and the pavement won. But it's all good now, I get my stitches out on Wednesday. And I look pretty hot sporting the one and a half eyebrow look. If anyone else would like to join me in rocking this new style- please send pictures.
Fresh off the pavement, on our way to the hospital
This is how a nurse bandaged me up and made me sit in the waiting room for over an hour while I waited to get stitches- cool huh?
Getting my stitches
All done- 7 to be exact
7 stitches + half an eyebrow= hot
Pretty much I got my butt kicked by the pavement... but that's OK, I didn't want that skin anyway
I think I'll stay off the rollerblades for a while
So that was me on Monday, and just two days later Lexi was scheduled to have surgery to remove a lump on her neck. The Vet said it was a benign cyst caused by a hair follicle. Or something like that. But wanted to remove it before it got any larger. So poor Lexi went under the knife and returned home with some stitches of her own.

Seriously though- what are the chances that you and your dog both get stitches within two days of each other? But we are both recovering quite well- Brent and Bauer have taken good care of us.

so were those sympathy stitches or what?! you were really feeling for lexi having surgery and wanted to make her feel like it's ...ok... so you took a header into the cement... ah what we do for our dogs. you're sweet 1.5 cent. so very sweet.
I'm glad you and Lexi are ok! I think the new fad is great!
You poor thing! I'm just glad I wasn't there to see you fall. I have that uncontrollable laughing problem when people fall down. I know, it's horrible. But I'm so happy to hear you're OK! And that Lexi's OK too.
I can't believe you let the pavement kick your butt like that. While Casey would have been laughing her butt off, I would have been panicking and yelling for 911 as that is how I get in situation like that. So, good thing we weren't there haha. however, I do love the eyebrow!
