It's a Bird! It's a Plane! It's a... BABY?

You can pick your jaw up off the floor now, but while you're down there- can you pick mine up too?

Here it is- in all it's 8-week-old glory... and in case you are like me and can never read these darn ultrasound pictures- the large round thing on your left is the head. Connected to that is the body, and the little lump on top of the body is what is going to at some point grow into an arm. Trust me- I had my "Rachel from Friends" moment during the appointment, I just never said anything out loud. For about 20 minutes I was very proud of myself thinking I could see the baby, when what I had actually been looking at the whole time was the yolk sac- the little round thing that is feeding the baby but is not actually the baby. So I kept my mouth shut and in due time the very nice lady conducting my appointment made sure to point out which round thing was the yolk sac and which round thing was the head. Phew! Although I do think the head looks rather unusually large... perhaps I can blame that on Brent's side of the family?

At the time of this post, I am actually 12 weeks along so just finishing up that first trimester. I keep telling myself that means I am 1/3 of the way through with this whole process, but somehow that isn't really helping. Tune in next week for answers to all your burning questions!

So happy for you both. It is wonderful news, always happy to have a new addition to the family. Just think about all the crazy people little one will grow to love and laugh with. Your blog words reminded me of probably just how Debster thought when she found out she was pregnant with you. Although there was no ultrasound we all knew that little person (YOU) growing inside would be an absolutely amazing person. We were right. You will be excellent parents. love you - Aunt Mellon
