'Cause We Can

'Cause we can. The theme of spring break 2008 in Daytona Beach , FL. This phrase was coined by my somewhat inebriated Aunt Velma, but was then said throughout the week after we did or said anything that we might have not done or said had we not been on vacation.

Are we gonna eat Krispy Kreme's for breakfast every morning? Yup. And why? 'Cause we can.

Are we going to start drinking at 2 in the afternoon? Yup. And why? 'Cause we can.

Are we going to eat licorice and drink wine at the same time? Yup. And why? 'Cause we can.

And the list goes on and on...

Some other popular and drunk sayings from the week included my Aunt Velma, perhaps sober this time, calling the lazy river at our hotel a lazy Susan. I actually overheard my father say "real men drink pink" as he sipped on a strawberry daiquiri, and our good friend Mike Frary said he needed an "interpretator" when he couldn't understand one of our waitresses. For those of you who do not speak Mike Frary, trust me, not many of us do, he was trying to say the word interpreter. So it seemed that after all we were the ones in need of an interpreter. My personal favorite was "SPRING BREAK 2008 WHOOOO HOOOO" which I said many many times during the week, randomly throughout the days and nights as I found necessary.

Maureen and I hit up Mai Tai's every night of the week, and by our fourth night there the bouncer was no longer ID'ing us- he was hugging us. Not sure if that was a good thing or not. The parents had a few too many at happy hour and threw each other in the ocean, ruining two cell phones and a watch. There was a fierce battle between Yankees and Red Sox fans one night, (when isn't there right?), and i bought my "welcome home Brent dress" courtesy of the Debster.

Thanks to the fam for the free room and board, and plane ticket, and for the good times. Hopefully they will let me crash their spring break again next year, wherever that may take us.
