Almost Famous

OK, so not really. But check this out- a few months back, a woman that works on base came into my office and asked if she could take a picture of me "demonstrating customer service." Ummmm, sure. So how does a personal trainer demonstrate customer service you might be asking yourself- yeah me too. So I took one of my client's into the aerobics room and had him pretend to be doing an exercise while I pretended to be helping him. So was I supposed to smile? Look at the camera? Look at my client? This lady was not exactly directing the photo shoot.

So months go by and I never hear about the photos or see them anywhere... but just when I thought I was safe I get an e mail. And this particular e mail happened to come fom my boss' boss- which is never a good thing. I was just glad I was wearing my uniform shirt and name tag in the picture- phew, dodged a bullet there. So he sends me a copy and says, "Hey did you see your picture? Looks good." But at this point, the "picture" of myself and my client was only an 8x11 piece of paper, not so bad. Then a couple days later I get a call from my boss informing me that this picture was not in fact a picture after all- it was a poster! A rather large poster as you can tell from the photo. And now these posters are hanging in every fitness center on base. Which in case you are wondering is like 8 or 9 gyms. I don't know how many there are exactly- but too many if you ask me. It couldn't just be in one little place where no one would see it- they had to make copies.

And yes, I do get recognized and have been asked to sign a few autographs- of which of course I had to decline, I am a professional after all. I mean, geez, how does my head even fit through the door?

At the bottom of the poster it says...

We look our customers in the eye. We smile at them. We talk to them. And we always thank them. If we are not doing these things, we are not doing our jobs.

Well I guess that answered my questions about where to be looking during the picture.

I'll have to go see if there is a poster of you in 29. If so, I am going to steal it, send it to you, have you sign it and post it back up. I am sure the gym goers would like a signed copy!
