Ladies and gentlemen, I proudly introduce to you- 1st Lieutenant Brent Lucas Rider. (applause, the crowd goes wild) May 27th was Brent's pickup date to become a 1st Lieutenant, however, since that date fell over a Holiday weekend, his actual promotion was held on May 30th. Being promoted to 1st Lieutenant means Brent has silver rank on the collar of his uniform instead of brass, he gets paid more, and he is no longer considered a "boot" Lieutenant. 2nd lieutenants are called "boot" Lieutenant's because that is the first rank they receive after getting through boot camp, which for Brent was over two summers at OCS in Quantico. Brent is very excited to have received this promotion, and as always, I am very proud. Next up- Captain... but that isn't for another two years. I'll keep you posted.Note: Please excuse my outfit, Brent didn't find out until that morning that he was getting promoted and I barely got there in time after work- which explains the t-shirt and capris workout pants. Not exactly the look I would have gone for had I been able to dress accordingly and knew I was going to be pinning on his bars.

Congrats Brent. Marge- I asked someone about the punching thing and they had heard of it. Strange. I guess you missed your chance... the one time you could've gotten away with spouse abuse without getting PMO called... darn.
Congratulations, Brent!
