Bigger is Better

Especially when it refers to Thanksgiving with the Hannan's. Yes, bigger was definitely the theme this year. There was a bigger number of place settings at the table, bigger jokes, bigger drinks, and bigger shows.

There is always a bigger amount of turkey cooked, as we cook a second turkey just to have for leftovers the next day. Gotta have those turkey sandwiches! Kathy's bigger tears were happy tears, as she was so touched by Conor's reasons that he was thankful for everyone that came. Tommy's ankle was bigger, due to a sprain suffered that morning during a pick-up basketball game. (Of course with some athletic training advice given by yours truly, that ankle should be healed in no time.) And certainly does not apply to the bigger is better rule. But even Grey's Anatomy was bigger, airing a special extended episode for the big night- and more Grey's Anatomy is always better. Oh yeah, we watched it.

The jokes got bigger as now there is a t-shirt to go along with Mimi's nickname "The Bird." "The Bird" of course derived from past Thanksgiving mishaps. Then came the bigger drink- the giant Stinger glass. A Stinger is a drink made up of a dangerous combination of brandy and creme de menthe. It is both tasty and toxic. It also happens to be my father's drink of choice. There have been many a Stinger passed around the Thanksgiving table, but never one this big. Only a few were brave enough to try it. Because as they say, "One's not enough, and two's too many!" Perhaps that can also be said of our Thanksgiving turkeys?

Very into Grey's Anatomy
